DAYLINE PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated 19 October 2026
1. Who we are
Dayline is an app for iPhone, iPad and Mac made by Packard Mill Studios ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. Questions go to hello@packardmill.com.
2. In short
We don't collect any personal data. Dayline has no servers, accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party code. Your information stays on your devices and in your own iCloud account, and Apple Maps sees the places you ask it about.
3. Calendars and reminders
If you allow it, Dayline reads and changes your calendar events and reminders on your device, using Apple's Calendar and Reminders frameworks. When you add, edit, tick off or move a task, or give a line its own reminder list, the change is saved to Calendar or Reminders and syncs through the account that owns it, such as iCloud, Google or Outlook. A place you add to a task is saved in that reminder's notes. None of this is sent to us.
4. Location
If you allow it, Dayline uses your location while you're using the app to work out how long it takes to get from where you are to your next stop. Location is optional: without it, journeys start from your home address.
5. Noticing when you leave and arrive
This is part of Dayline Pass, and it's off unless you turn on "Notice when I leave and arrive" in Dayline's Settings and allow location access Always. Dayline then asks iOS to watch for you leaving or arriving at the places on today's line: up to 20 places, each an area within about 150 metres of it. When you cross one, iOS wakes Dayline in the background, even if the app is closed, so it can re-plan the rest of your day and warn you about knock-on delays. Dayline keeps only the time you left a stop, on your device, and forgets it once that stop is off today's line. Your location is never stored by Dayline or sent to us. Turn it off in Dayline's Settings, or change location access in iOS Settings.
6. Apple Maps
To find places and work out journey times, Dayline sends Apple Maps the place names you search for, the locations of your stops and your starting point (your current location or home address). Apple handles these requests under the Apple Privacy Policy. We don't receive them.
7. Stored on your device
Dayline keeps your lines, settings, city theme, home address, whether you have Dayline Pass and the last 62 days of journey times on your device, so it can show weekly summaries and the month network map. It also keeps a small copy of today's next trip and stops so widgets and Live Activities can show them. All of this is deleted when you delete the app.
8. Spotlight, Siri and Shortcuts
Dayline adds today's stops and open tasks to your device's Spotlight search, so you can find them there and Siri and Shortcuts can use them. The search index stays on your device. Dayline replaces it as your day changes, and iOS removes it when you delete the app.
9. iCloud sync
If iCloud sync is on, your lines and settings, including your home address and the names of the calendars and lists on each line, are stored in your own iCloud account so your other devices match. Apple stores this data and we can't read it. You can turn sync off in Dayline's Settings.
10. Notifications, widgets and Live Activities
Leave alerts, briefings, weekly summaries, widgets, Control Centre controls and Live Activities are all made on your device. Dayline doesn't use a push server. A Live Activity can start by itself before your next journey. These can show stop names and times on your Lock Screen, so choose what's shown there in iOS Settings.
11. Sharing
Telling people you're running late, sharing when you leave, and sharing your day or month as a picture send only what you choose, to the people or apps you pick in the share sheet.
12. Feedback
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you, never for marketing, and delete it when it's no longer needed to help you.
13. Payment
Dayline is free. Dayline Pass is an optional one-time in-app purchase, and Apple handles it. The app only learns from Apple whether you have the Pass. Apple's sales reports don't tell us who you are, and we never see your payment details.
14. Children
Dayline isn't aimed at children under 13. Since we don't collect personal data from anyone, we don't collect it from children either.
15. Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law (GDPR) and California law (CCPA), you can ask what personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. The only data we could hold is a feedback email, so contact hello@packardmill.com with any request. We don't sell or share personal information. If you're in the UK and unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
16. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
